Video / World marks 90th anniversary since the end of World War I
11.11.2008
On November 11, when Latvian celebrates Lacplesis Day (War Heroes Memorial Day), the world marks the 90th anniversary since the end of World War I. On the eleventh month, of the eleventh day, on the eleventh hour, the Compiegne Armistice was signed, which ended military action on all fronts. This is the moment the whole world honors those who fought in the war. The ceremonies in countries all over the world will not be as emotional as they used to be, because almost all of the veterans that participated in the war have died. However, three Brits who fought in the war together with the French, Russian and Italians are still alive. The oldest of them is Henry Allingham, who is currently 112 years old.
