RIGA, Aug 14 (LETA) - Latvian Institute (LI) visits regions in Latvia, to present the project "Latvia. Next 90" and encourage young people to participate in it, as LI representative Inese Loce informed LETA.
Today LI will present the project "Latvia. Next 90" in Valmiera (north-central Latvia) to the leaders of the municipality, representatives of schools and non-governmental organizations. The meeting will take place at the Valmiera City Council at 11 a.m..

34 Riga City Council members voted for renaming the street.
The Riga City Council's Monument Protection Inspection earlier rejected the proposal by a wide margin. The Riga City Council's City Development Department also objected to renaming the street.
RIGA, July 11 (LETA) - In honor of the 90th anniversary of Latvia's Independence Day, a Latvian culture and history exhibition will be opened at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on November 26 this year.
The exhibition will feature photographs, paintings and a video of the National Song and Dance Festival choir performances, as the Latvian Academy of Arts representative Inese Bauge told LETA.

RIGA, July 3 (LETA) - Opening the traditional Latvian honorary consuls' meeting today, Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis (Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way) and Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins (People's Party) thanked the honorary consuls for their work.
The foreign affairs minister said that more than 80 out of the 132 Latvian honorary consuls were taking part in the meeting today, including nine consuls general, which represent the interests of Latvia in more than 40 countries.
RIGA, June 29 (LETA) - U.S. Republican Party Senator Gordon Smith and Democratic Party Senator Richard Durbin have handed in a bipartisan resolution in the Senate for approval, with which Latvia will be congratulated on its November 18 Independence Day.
