RIGA, Nov 20 (LETA) - President Valdis Zatlers continues to receive greetings from country leaders from Europe and around the world on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Latvia, as the President's press office informed LETA.
Today, Zatlers received greetings from the President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, President of Finland Tarja Halonen, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko and other country leaders.
RIGA, Nov 19 (LETA) - The many Latvian Independence Day events in Riga proceeded without any major incidents yesterday, the State Police report.
It is estimated that the most people - tens of thousands - gathered last night at the Freedom Monument for the concert and the president's address, and just as many were at the right bank of the Daugava later for the fireworks display-laser show.

RIGA, Nov 18 (LETA) - The Latvian nation must be united and all people must be equal in the current situation, as Latvian Lutheran Archbishop Janis Vanags said during an ecumenical service at the Riga Dome Church today, marking the 90th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Latvia.
When times are hard, the nation has to be united and classless, all people must work hard to overcome the difficulties, Vanags said.
